Oh, my goodness. I need a better social life!

Ok...now I know I need to get out more. My parents brought me "kids" to adopt since I don't have any and they thought I might like some. Now mind you, I do not have any pets and I have only 4 plants. But they felt I needed them. They were kinda of cute about it. The kids were all comfy in a box with the yellow and white blanket my Dad made for them.  I had to name them right away..Frick & Frack is the only thing I could think of on the spot. Here they are sitting in the living room. They do kinda scare me with those big eyes watching me. I hope my parents are happy...

OK, I'm ready for spring already.....it's been way too cold. Bring spring on.

 

Just close my eyes and here I am....

I am soooo ready for spring.....I've had way too much of the cold weather..These cute little pansies were planted back in late December, and they made it through the cold blasts we have had this winter. As you can see my yard didn't fair too well from the hard freezes this year. Please...spring come soon..

Mid-life decisions..

Yup...I'm crazy. I have decided to go back to school for my Master's Degree. I thought it would be nice that maybe in 5 to 10 years from now I could have a "desk" job. Right now I'm on my feet, running around for sometimes greater than a 14hr day. I was on the night shift up until last year. After 28yrs I decided feeling tired almost all of the time was not good for me or for any relationship. I also had hit the milestone...50...the change, can I retire soon?, what am I going to do for the rest of my career?  I thought switching to a day time hours would fix me right up. Help me feel better with more energy to do things I want to do.  Normal sleep hours has definitely helped in my overall feeling of health. But I also have to think of the future...down the road....can I continue to be on my feet and run around like I do now? Do I want to? Also, lately people have been coming to me, telling me that I am now or was their mentor, 5,10,15 maybe 20 years ago. And now that I am more accessible to them working day hours now, they have been coming to me for advise and/or using me as a sounding board. It's nice to think that I have had an positive impact on people during their career, so that's also been the catalyst for me to go back to school. Maybe that's my next calling to be more of a mentor, like a educator in my career.  Time will tell. I laugh when I think that when I was 20 or so, I truly believed I would be retired at 50 living the beach life, traveling around the country. What a dream word that was....

Well......this is a picture of the end of a rainbow. I thought at every end of rainbow there is a huge pot of gold. And maybe some little dancing guys....No such luck..I guess I'll keep my day job...

1st Day of Summer!

Summertime...Summertime...Summertime...

Bring on the warm weather....This is the time of year I enjoy so much hanging out on my back porch, doing my best to just chill. I try spend all day just lounging around on a "floatie" in my pool, trying to relax and enjoy my time off hoping my neighbors can't hear my occasional snoring. In the evening the grill comes out and I try to cook something without burning it or have it fall through the slats on the grill rack. Thank goodness that emergency beer in my hand could put out any fires if needed. And on something falling through the slats...is there a 5 second rule in affect? The day usually ends watching the sunset over the trees in my back yard wishing the day lasted longer..

My Weekend Plans....

Ok.....this is my desk at home. This is all the work I need to get done this weekend. Yearly staff evaluations are due and I'm also working on a 30min educational inservice. I would love to have my own personal secretary. And how about my own personal chef to bring me a cup of fresh brewed coffee at my beckon call? And maybe some of those cute little pastries you see in the local bakery with my coffee. Oh my... I do live in a delusional world sometimes...

My gal made these cute football helmet jello-shots for a Super Ball Party on Sunday. I'm not a great fan of jello-shots, but these certainly looked good. And I think they were as they were all gone by the end of the game.

Beautiful full moon evening..

I was walking out to the mailbox the other evening and my eyes caught this beautiful view of the almost full moon rising. We have been having a "cool-cold" spell this week, so the sky has been amazingly clear. Well, I mean here in Florida it has been cool-cold at least by our tropical standards. You know....40-50's.
I know. I know. That's not really cold by most of the country's standard's... I left the cold and snowy North quite a few years ago and I do not miss it. Not one bit. All those snow storms I've been seeing on the news gives me the shivers.. Give me the warm and sunny weather any time...

The famous Key West ED mug..

Here it is.....the famous Key West coffee mug. I don't know what it is about coffee mugs....but I like them. My favorite ones are the heavy stoneware type with a large handle so when you are sipping your 1st cup of the day, you can hold it with 2 hands close to your chest careful not to fall asleep and spill it in your lap.
This great mug was given to me by a friend on one of my vacation trips to Key West. We had a blast as usual and I somehow got the nickname as ED...thus the name on the mug. 

I'm not much of a morning person except when I'm on vacation. I don't know what it is about vacation, but only on vacation I enjoy getting up...really-really early... to watch the sunrise. Forget about it any other time. Bring me my coffee in bed, and maybe I'll get up smiling or at least being able to stand up-right. I guess it would also depend on who brought me the coffee...right Pumpkin?
